Are you trying to reset your Infamy rank This complete guide will show you how to reset and max out your Infamy rank in no time.
Gambit is one the three core activities of Destiny 2. Gambit is a controversial game mode, but it’s one of the most rewarding. Guardians have the option to chase multiple titles, weapon skins and many other rewards. To get any Gambit reward you will need Infamy rep. If you are chasing the Dredgen title, you’ll also have to reset your Infamy rank at minimum once.
This guide will discuss everything you need to know about Infamy, including Infamy ranks and rewards for different levels of Infamy points. There are also different strategies that can help you earn Infamy quickly.
Updated 9/28/21 Bungie has changed the way that Infamy works. This includes how many points are required to reach maximum Infamy. This article contains the most recent information about how to reset your Infamy using the Gambit Activity Streak system. Also, the Drifter has the latest rewards.

Destiny 2 Gambit Ranks
You need to be aware of what you are getting into if you plan on setting your Infamy rank back up in a single season. Infamy doesn’t compare to Valor in Crucible or ranking up in the Vanguard. It is much more difficult and takes a lot more effort than just doing a few bounties.
To be able to see how far you can go, it is important that you are familiar with Infamy ranks. You will need to earn 10,000 Infamy Points to reach the pinnacle. This is in addition to the 15,000 points required to reset your Infamy prior to the recent changes. There are five divisions to the ranking system. Below are Destiny 2’s Gambit ranks.
- Guardian II: 0-50 (50 to rank up).
- Guardian II : 50 -125 (75 to rank up
- Guardian III 125-250 (125 to rank up
- Brave: 250-500 (250 to rank up).
- Brave I: 500-950 (450 to rank up).
- Brave III 950 – 1,550 (600 for rank up).
- Heroic: 1,550-1,925 (375 to rank up
- Heroic I: 1,925 to 2,525 (600 rank up).
- Heroic III : 2,525-3,350 (or 825 to rank up).
- Fabled: 3,350-3,875 (or 525 to rank up).
- Fabled I: 3,875- 4,650 (775 for ranking up)
- Fabled III : 4,650 – 5,700 (1.050 to rank up
- Mythic II: 5,700-6,450 (750 to rank up).
- Mythic I: 6,450 to 7,525 (1.075 to rank up).
- Mythic II: 7,525-9,000 (1,475 to rank higher)
- Legend : 9,000 to 10,000 (1,000 to rank higher)
- Max rank: 10,000
Once you have reached max reputation, the Drifter can be visited in the Tower to reset the Infamy rank. You should always check your seasonal challenges as there are often challenges that have to do with Infamy ranks.
One quick note on the ranks: Infamy can be divided into divisions and ranks. Brave I, II and III are all Ranks in the Brave Division. You are not only moving up in rank, but also changing divisions when you move from Brave to Heroic, Mythic, or Legend.
Infamy Reward
Bungie created Uncle Drifter to balance the time and effort required to reset their Infamy rank.
Reputation Rewards
- Rank up 1x Legendary Emgram
- Rank 4, (Brave I).: 3x Upgrade Modules
- Rank7 (Heroic II): 3x Enhancement Cores
- Rank 10, (Fabled II): Seasonal Gambit Shader -> 3x enhancement Cores after Infamy reset
- Rank13 Mythic I: 2x Enhancement Cores
- Rank16 (Legend) 1x Ascendant Shard, 1x Exotic Engram following Infamy reset and Seasonal Gambit emblem, -> 2x enhancement prisms following Infamy restart
You’ll also get 1x Prime Engram whenever you move from one Division to the next, i.e. Brave -> Heroic, Heroic -> Fabled, etc.
Reward for Featured Armor
After unlocking Drifter’s Featured Armor section, players can buy randomly rolled Gambit armor pieces. To unlock the Featured Rewards, you will need to complete 8x bounties in order to complete the Weekly Gambit Challenge. These could be the daily or repeatable bounties or any combination of them.
Quest Rewards
In his quest rewards section, the Drifter currently holds 4 items (1x weapon and 1x Ghost Shell). The Quest Rewards section is misleading as you unlock these items depending on how many lifetime Infamy resets you have.
- 0x Infamy Reset: Bygones Pulse Rifle
- 0x Reset Distant Relation Scout Rifle (Only for players who do not have it yet)
- 1x Reset: Trust hand Cannon
- 2x Reset: Bad Omens Rocket Launcher
- 3x Infamy Reset: Furtive Ghost Shell
It is worth noting that these weapons belong to the batch which was sunset prior to Beyond Light. They can’t be infused with maximum power. Bad Omens is the exception, although it has been reissued. However, Drifter’s inventory can only hold 1100 light. It won’t work in Endgame Activities like Raids, Iron Banners or Trials. However, it can be used in Patrol Zones, Strikes and the Crucible.
However, Bygones remains one of my favorite pulse rifles and one of few 390rpm kinetic pulse guns in the game. It’s still my favorite pulse rifle and I still enjoy it.
Seasonal Rewards
The seasonal gameplay model has included Pinnacle and Pursuit weapon. Bungie releases new weapons or sets of weapons with each season. Guardians can pursue these weapons by fulfilling long quest chains or satisfying certain requirements in order to complete a quest. This is how Exit Strategy, Mountaintop and the Recluse were obtained. Luna’s Howl was also acquired.
Bungie recently changed from producing multiple weapons per season to making only one. Each faction has a unique weapon skin, each themed around a specific activity. Primeval Patina and Salvager’s Salvo are two great examples.
This section of Papa Drifter’s inventory contains quests such as these that will unlock the weapon skins specific to each season’s pursuit weapon. For seasonal quests, you can also earn emblems such as the one shown above.
How to earn infamy
Gambit is the easiest way to earn Infamy. Infamy rank points will be added regardless of how you win or lose. After a certain time, your rank will reach its maximum and you can reset it. This will take forever. You can rank up your Infamy faster by following the steps below and make Gambit a game you enjoy, instead of one that you want to play.
Completion of Your Daily Bounties
Last updated on 9/28/21 Daily bounties are no longer rewarding Guardians Infamy Points for completion. This is no longer an effective way to earn Infamy points, but it’s worth noting because we have come across many players who didn’t know about the change.
As you can see, daily bounties reward you only with XP. Repeatable bounties provide XP as well as Bright Dust. If you expect to rank up by chaining bounties, like the old days, then you will be disappointed.
Despite this, the bounties still provide a great source for XP. They help you level your Artifact, unlock this season’s artifact mods and boost your power bonus to get GM Nightfall / Master Raid ready. The repeatable bounties also help you earn Bright Dust if Gambit is your favorite game.
Get on Activity Streaks
Bungie has updated the Gambit streak system. Now that Win Streaks can be transformed into Activity Streaks, Guardians don’t have to win matches in order to receive a streak bonus.
You’ll get bonus Infamy points if you play multiple matches in one match. This is on top of your regular win reward. The number of matches played in a row will determine how much bonus Infamy you get. You will receive a larger bonus if you play more matches in a row.
It doesn’t matter if you win or lose the matches. As long as you continue playing Gambit matches back-to-back, your streak will continue. If you want to farm a lot more Infamy, it is important to take some time to just play Gambit.
It’s important that you remember that your streak will be reset to zero if any activity is played between matches that aren’t Gambit. This includes:
- Visiting patrol zone destinations
- Other playlist activities
- Leave a match in progress
The Tower, The H.E.L.M. and orbit are the only places can visit that won’t end your streak. Your streak will be broken if you go any other for even a moment to refill your Glimmer at Spider.
Play during Triple/Double Infamy Boosts
There will be weeks when Guardians can earn additional Infamy rank point. These weeks are the best time to farm Infamy and Gambit. You’ll get double the Infamy rank points for the week, and triple Infamy the weekend. You can grind Infamy rank at a better time than any other.
These weeks will be displayed in the “Next Week in Destiny”, screen that appears when you log in to the game. Bungie.net also has the TWAB. It is the closest thing to an Infamy boost program because the CMs always make it a point of mentioning upcoming events.
The Fastest Methods to Get Infamy
These methods will help you earn Infamy. However, there are other ways to get more infamy and accelerate your path to the maximum rank. These tips will make it easier to earn Infamy when you play Gambit.
Get together
Although fireteams in Gambit can be frustrating, there is no better way to quickly earn large amounts of Infamy. A coordinated team with clear responsibilities and a plan will give you an advantage over your competition. A voice chat team is an incredible advantage over a group of players.
If you want to quickly reset your Infamy rank, you must fight fire with fire. You can search DestinyLFG or the100.io for a fireteam or find one at r/fireteams. You can also send friend requests out to other players in public lobbies, and you can even start your own group!
Although it can be a pain, you are far more likely win and to go on win streaks in a fireteam. It’s worth the effort to make sure you get the Infamy.
Play to your Strengths
Guardian Slayers are not for everyone. Every Guardian can find their place in the ecosystem, and there are many roles that they can play. The best thing you can do to help your team is do what you love.
If you are an add clearing monster, be a trailblazer for your team to help them pick up motes after your devastation. You can counter invaders well by setting up shop at their spawn points to capture them before they do.
Gambit is a team-based game. To win, your team must play like one. To secure the bag, you must all pull in the same direction. Fights over kills, motes, invasions, and stepping on one another’s toes can cause problems.
Keep Your Head Up
The most important thing you can do to your team is to keep them alive. This advice is good for any activity, but Gambit is where you could lose your life and potentially 15 motes. Gambit is so fast these days that even a small loss could cost your team the game.
Gambit’s enemies can be very tough and can rip you apart if you let your guard down. Keep your team together, stick with them, take cover, identify difficult targets, and keep alive to bank your motes. It’s okay to retreat if you need to survive.
It is better to have 14 motes of savings than to go bankrupt with 15.
Use an Add Clearing Builder
Gambit is all about speed. You can defeat enemies faster, collect and deposit motes faster, and invade your primeval faster.

Invade
Invasion is the main factor in determining the outcome of Gambit matches. An invasion can wipe out a team completely and undo all their progress with current game modes. This can leave the other team without a chance to win.
Even if you haven’t had much experience in invasion, you can still make an impact as the invader. When the invaders are announced, they will run for cover or hide to avoid being killed and losing their motes. Their momentum is halted and they lose their advantage. Your team will continue to press for the advantage.
You can also score a few kills before time runs out. You are just a presence, but you can do more than that to make the other team lose a few points. Here are some tips to help you get the edge.
- PvP Exotic Weapons – Truth, Eyes of Tomorrow. Xenophage.
- PvP Super: Golden Gun, Chaos Reach, Thundercrash.
- Ammo finder and Scavenger mods for heavy weapons of choice
